GRS Certification
I. Prenatal Preparation Stage
- Raw material procurement and certification: Prioritize the purchase of recycled fibers with GRS certification (such as recycled nylon 6, recycled spandex), and require suppliers to provide GRS raw material certificates and traceability reports for recycled materials, clearly indicating the proportion of recycled materials (e.g. ≥ 70%). At the same time, auxiliary materials (such as eco-friendly dyes, non-fluorescent elastic bands) must also comply with GRS environmental standards to avoid the inclusion of non-certified materials.
- Equipment and workshop renovation: Conduct environmental-friendly renovations on seamless knitting machines, dyeing equipment, etc. Install wastewater treatment devices and exhaust gas purification systems to ensure that production emissions meet standards. Divide independent production areas for GRS products to avoid cross-contamination with non-certified products. Also, set up waste material classification and recycling areas in the workshop.
- Personnel training and system establishment: Organize personnel in positions such as production, quality inspection, and warehousing to receive training on the GRS standards, clarifying requirements for raw material control, production records, waste disposal, etc. Establish the GRS management system, and formulate raw material purchase ledgers, production process record sheets, waste recovery ledgers, etc., to ensure full-chain traceability.
II. Production Execution Phase
- Raw material inspection and pre-treatment: After the raw materials arrive at the factory, their purity is verified through spectroscopic detection and component analysis, and the GRS certification information is checked. Once qualified, they are stored in the designated storage area. The regenerated fibers are carded and combed to remove impurities, ensuring the uniformity of the raw materials and laying the foundation for the subsequent knitting process.
- Seamless knitting process: The pre-treated recycled fibers are fed into the seamless knitting machine. Based on the product design parameters (such as cup shape, size, pressure value), the fibers are knitted together as a single piece, reducing the waste generated during the cutting process. During the production process, real-time recording of equipment parameters, production batches, raw material usage, etc. is conducted to ensure traceability.
- Environmental-friendly finishing treatment: Utilizing environmentally friendly reactive dyes and disperse dyes certified by GRS, through processes such as low-temperature dyeing and digital printing, we aim to reduce water consumption and pollutant emissions. After dyeing, efficient water washing is carried out to remove residual dyes. The wastewater is treated to meet standards before being discharged or recycled.
- Post-processing and Waste Recycling: After the dyeing and finishing process, the underwear is subjected to shaping, trimming, and inspection. The trimmings generated are sorted by material and recycled, and then uniformly handed over to the GRS-certified waste treatment enterprise for reprocessing. At the same time, the amount of waste generated and recycled is recorded to ensure that the destination of the waste can be traced.
III. Postpartum Testing and Certification Phase
- Product quality inspection: Conduct tests on the finished products for indicators such as dimensional deviation, elastic recovery rate, color fastness, and pH value, to ensure compliance with national textile product safety standards and the quality requirements of GRS.
- GRS Certification Audit: Compile all chain records (raw material purchase vouchers, production ledgers, waste recycling records, test reports, etc.), submit the GRS certification application to the third-party certification body, cooperate with the auditors for on-site inspections, and ensure that the process complies with the GRS standards.
- Labeling and Traceability Marking: After obtaining GRS certification, the product label should bear the GRS certification mark, the proportion of recycled materials (e.g., “containing 85% recycled nylon”), and the certification number. At the same time, a product traceability system should be established. Consumers can scan the code to view information such as the source of raw materials and the production process.
IV. Warehousing and Logistics Phase
- Exclusive warehouse management: Store GRS-certified products in a separate warehouse area. Implement measures to prevent moisture and dust, and avoid mixing them with non-certified products. Establish a warehouse ledger to record the quantity of products entering and leaving the warehouse, as well as the inventory status, ensuring traceability throughout the logistics process.
- Environmental-friendly logistics distribution: Select partners with green logistics qualifications and use recyclable packaging materials (such as recycled cardboard boxes and degradable plastic bags) to minimize the environmental impact during the logistics process. At the same time, record the logistics transportation information to ensure that the entire product journey from the warehouse to the end point is traceable.
